Copyright Policy
Why should I care about copyright?
Overview of Copyright Laws
Often when we think of copyright laws we think about books, music, movies and other published works that we can handle physically
but we often dont realize that these same rules apply to the web- even if it does not specifically state it on the webpage.
somehow we think that because we can get to it on our home computer that we are entitled to do with it what we see fit, but in
reality this is not the case. The developers of the web pages are just as entitled to copyright protection as those who publish their
works and distrubite them in hard format. Developers whos work has been "stolen" and placed on other websites without permission
may take the liberty of filing a lawsuit for infringement of copyright.
This being said, there are some instances where images
and other parts of webpages or even articles may be used in another site. This practice is called "Fair Use." It may be alright to copy
an image or part of the content or design, but in the event of being taken to court one must agree to the infringement and then declare
Fair Use hoping that the judge will vote in their favor, just play it safe and either get permission or use objects that are in the
public domain- free or open license to be used by anyone.
Personal Adherence
As someone who uses computers on a daily basis and represents a business who is dedicated to servicing and promoting the growth and knowledge that people have with computers, I am obligated to follow these same principles in my website design. All images added or content that is not owned by me will be property of the public domain or used with permission and a reference placed to that site. I currently have one image on my site that I don't know it's origin and am in the process of trying to find out where it is from. If I am unable to locate it I will remove it from my site so as to be in accordance with the copyright policy.
Request to all Visitors
It is my request that all who visit this site also comply fully with the copyright laws and my rights as a developer and everywhere
else you go on the web. If you want to use something from my site I dont have any problem with it, just ask my permission first. Please
respect me and remember that not only could it harm you in the event of a court case, but also harms your character. It isn't what you do
when people are watching that matters, but rather your behavior when no one else is around.
